Randall Roofing was founded in 1981 by Randall Zawadzki. Randall was previously a union worker and decided to open his own business in his hometown of Lombard, IL. Randall spent 30+ years selling and installing new roofs, providing for his wife and children. Much of the work was from word of mouth, referrals and newspaper ads. At this time, there was only one, maybe two, other local roofing companies in the area. Randall slowly built a reputation for installing quality roof systems.

Randall’s son, Ed, worked alongside Randall, starting in high school, as a laborer. Ed eventually joined Randall up on the roof and learned very quickly about the physical demands required by this line of work (and he wasn’t a fan, at first). Randall shared his experience, knowledge and workmanship with Ed, shaping the future of the company. As the years went on, business spread to neighboring towns resulting in rapid growth, keeping Randall satisfied and Ed intrigued.

Randall and Son Roofing and Exteriors was officially born. Together, Randall and Ed found different ways to continue to expand the business further into the market by adding the installation of siding and gutters. Despite the struggling economy, Randall and Son survived, unlike many other small, family-owned roofing businesses, although it was not easy.

In the decade that followed, both Randall and Ed were able to find top-level installers, allowing both of them to cease performing roof installations themselves and focus further on building the business. While word of mouth and referrals were still the number one source of new business, there were new opportunities with the increase in technology, social media and online advertising. With plans to expand the sales team, an office location was opened in 2019 in downtown St. Charles, IL.

The new office location provided a centralized location for the RNS team to gather, collaborate and identify opportunities to streamline and improve our process and customer experience. Our organically expanding team grew from 4 employees in 2020 to 12 employees in 2023. This growth allowed us to increase our service area, while maintaining the quality and workmanship our customers know and expect.

In 2024, Randall and Son Roofing and Exteriors remains a family-owned business, expanding to a team of 40 employees! We remain committed to top-level craftmanship, superior customer service, timely installation and a customer experience like no other.
